So… I got my first sewing machine!
Juki HZL-DX7 which I know is probably way more advanced than I ever need as a beginner, but I really wanted one with all the nuts and bolts to fuel my waning ambitions. BSky post for posterity.
I say I’m a beginner, but I grew up watching my mom sew garments for the local Chinese dance troupe where she personally taught me and had me involved in many of her dances year to year for the Chinese New Year festival held across the city. I did basic sewing projects for home ec back in middle school as well, and I still do various handsewing to mend small parts of my clothes… but other than that, I just don’t have the EXPERIENCE. Also sucks about the investing I’d need to do for cloth and other materials these days. But I’ll get to it… eventually.
Just not in the forseeable couple months ahead because I’m literally recovering from PRK (eye laser surgery) after being on a very strong prescription. So… maybe more on this in 2027. Lol.
In the meantime, I’m just trying to pick up whatever knowledge I can from hearsay, YouTube videos, the like. I’m open to unsolicited advice~
